Can You Make Enchiladas With Flour Tortillas

Repeat until your pan is full of rolled up enchiladas or you run out of filling.
So purists would not call them enchiladas if you use flour tortillas. If you have any remaining ground beef sprinkle it over the top of the rolled enchiladas. Grab some flour tortillas and dip them into the sauce making sure both sides are coated. Don t ask me how i know that.
Fry faster for a big batch of enchiladas shutterstock. Both of those however are really more us inventions than true mexican food. The good news is you don t need to dip them in hot oil. Running the tortillas through the hot oil is the traditional way of prepping them for the sauce but i use a spray oil and set them on a griddle for a few seconds each side.
The possible bad news is it s not technically an enchilada at that point but more of a burrito typically not cooked or chimichanga more often deep fried. Corn tortillas are the traditional standard for enchiladas but we find them difficult to work with. I know from experience that they will be a bit gooey gluey. We recommend using the more pliable easier to work with flour tortillas.

Authentic enchiladas are never made with flour tortillas only corn. It is also important to avoid using any kind of flour tortillas because they can alter the taste and texture of the enchiladas via simply recipes. In enchiladas stick with tortillas that are 8 inches wide or less. Sprinkle the remaining cheese all over the top and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until the center is bubbly.
When i make enchiladas i crisp up the corn tortillas first in pork lard and then dip them in the sauce. Corn tortillas pair well with almost any filling including vegetables beef chicken and shrimp while flour tortillas pair well with chicken and fish. If they re not treated correctly they can fall apart or become soggy in the sauce. I am just trying to figure out a way to at least somewhat reduce that effect.
Spoon a dollop of this mixture in the center 1 3rd of a tortilla roll up and place seam side down in greased pam d rectangle casserole dish. Maybe a minute total. Top with your favorite toppings and enjoy. Flour tortillas have a soft texture and a mild flavor and typically measure 6 to 12 inches or more wide.
