In shallow bowl combine egg whites milk orange juice vanilla nutmeg cinnamon.
Dunk the bread in the batter 4 slices at a time until just soaked. French toast with whole wheat bread whole wheat breads are a little more dry in texture and in my opinion that makes them perfect for french toast. Do not let the bread soak in the wet ingredients too long or it will become too wet and fall apart when you attempt to pick it up. The lightness of the white bread also helps it toast easier.
I loved this wheat bread version. The finished french toast should be served with maple syrup or with a generous dusting of confectioners sugar and fresh berries. If you have a griddle turn it to 325 degrees f. Personally i only make french toast with wheat bread.
Coat large non stick skillet w cooking spray heat. It already has a naturally sweet flavor. White bread is a perfect choice for use in french toast recipes as it has a light taste which allows the egg and syrup flavors to stand out. Give it a try.
