Can You Put Neosporin On A Piercing
Olivia Luz
No never put neosporin or aquaphor on your piercing.
When i first got mine it was listed do not do this. No you cannot use neosporin on a cartilage piercing. This thus disqualifies it for use on piercings. While it may be great on wounds putting it on is known to block fresh air from infected piercings and delay healing.
No neosporin is not safe for a piercing. In some cases good in other cases it kills bacteria they your body needs to heal this piercing. Polysporin bacitracin and polymyxin does not contain this agent and is recommended for treating minor skin infections. So like alcohol and peroxide it prolongs healing.
Neosporin contains neomycin and may cause an allergic reaction. If it hurts take two ibuprofen or take a cold towel in a ziplock and freeze it and lay it on the area that hurts but never use neosporin. And let me just say last time i put the neosporin on without the bar in all of the bumps went away. However if you get infected i recommend neosporin and just twist your ring frequently to make sure your belly doesn t stick to it while healing.

Continue with the sea salt soaks twice a day and you should be fine. It prevents the healing tissue from breathing attracts debris and can trap infection. If you think your piercing is getting infected continue your saline rinses and see your piercer for advice. I read somewhere that it prevents oxygen from getting to your piercing.
Neosporin will try and close the hole up and fix the boo boo. It will hurt worse and is more likely to get infected. All neosporin does is prevent oxygen from getting to your piercing and oxygen is a huge thing needed to help it heal. Read the tube or whatever it comes in it specifically says for cuts and scrapes a piercing is a puncture wound.
But you don t want to heal a hole you just put in you want it to scar over. I would recommend you don t use neosporin polysporin or anything like that on a ear piercing. Can you use it on infected piercings. Don t apply over the counter antiseptics including neosporin.
