That sounds like you may be starting to lose your plug. Does your mucus plug come out before or after your water breaks. Losing mucus plug in pieces is a fairly common occurrence in some women. Can your mucous plug fall out in pieces rather than all at once.
Most commonly it comes out around 2 to 5 days before labor begins. Im 35 weeks and that same thing has happened to me twice the past week sucks though cause that dosent really even mean anything as far as going into labor soon could still be several weeks good for me i guess but sucks for you if you are already due or something. Yes it can come out in pieces. The mucus can come out in one thick string or in smaller segments.
You might notice it on the toilet paper after you wipe or you may not see it or notice it at all. This thread is napping. I believe i am losing little bits of my mucous plug here and there. Since the mucus plug can come out in bits and pieces over time and many women don t even notice when they lose it what s more important is to get to a doctor as soon as possible when your water breaks or you leak fluid.

A person may notice a large glob of mucus and blood. The mucus plug thins and falls out in response to a rise in estrogen as well as pressure from the baby s head pushing on the cervix as labor approaches. It tends to happen from the 38 th week of pregnancy onwards though it can happen earlier. The plug can also come out in pieces over time so the individual might see a small and periodic trickle of mucus and blood or perhaps not even.
It s all to do with the cervix. If you notice bleeding that s heavy like a menstrual period contact your healthcare provider as this may not be the mucus plug coming out but something else that may require medical attention. It s more common if this is your first child but can still happen if you have given birth before. Normally subsequent pregnancies discharge one big mass of the mucus plug with just a little blood because their cervixes are more elastic.
