The tissues organs and organ systems present in animals require more physical connection than plant cells to allow the passage of macromolecules between cells. Animal cells have a cell membrane instead of a cell wall making tissue flaccid. This rigidity allows plants to stand upright without the need for bones. This means that it is soft pliable and not as heavy as plant tissue.
Plant cells have a cell wall composed of cellulose as well as a cell membrane. Animal cells do not have a cell wall but have a cell membrane. The lack of cell walls in animals allows greater flexibility of the cells as is necessary for locomotion. Animals have skin which acts as a barrier to the outside world and offers protection they do not require a great physical barrier around the individual cells due to this.
