You re right a lot of people get tears when they yawn. I have this too. You probably yawn because you are slouching and breathing with your shoulders during meditation. When we yawn our facial muscles contract which puts pressure on these lacrimal glands.
Why do your eyes tear up when you yawn. When people yawn they tend to tightly shut their eyes and this does two things. When we yawn the facial muscles surrounding our eyes pull tight. This may put pressure on our lacrimal glands the glands that are neatly tucked away deep beneath our upper eyelids just below our eyebrow bones these glands produce the watery component to our eyes own natural tears.
When you yawn you actually use lot of muscles in your face. Yawning often increases the secretion of tears because of muscular tension on the lacrimal glands which may simultaneously dam up the drainage system. No it cant be prevented unless you make your yawn smaller. My answer i think why people tear up when they yawn is because air might hit the eye of the person when they breath in the air when yawning and the eye will easily turn watery and that s why you tear example of the human eye.

It continuously supplies tear fluid that s wiped across the surface of our eye each time we blink our eyes. The pressure squeezes the glands causing them to release a small amount of tears that they were storing to release later. When you yawn your face scrunches up for the extra intake of air when you yawn it actually means you need more oxygen. First it squeezes the lacrimal duct causing more tears to flow into the eye.
This is collapsing your ribcage against your diaphragm causing shallow breath and slight oxygen depravation.
