Some just like to cross their arms because it s comfy but crossed arms can also show insecurity.
Honestly you guys seriouselly need to get out more. Why am i teaching my kids to pray with their arms folded. In private they raise both arms high above the head and while lowering repeating the words oh god hear the words of my mouth repeated three times. Some many of us fold our hands in our laps for example.
In this way we can draw nearer to god. Some of us latter day saints mormons do this others do not. One of the traditions of freemasonry is to pray with one s arms in the sign of the good shepherd. We fold our arms to show reverence and respect to our heavenly father.
Mormons only fold their arms when participating in the false order of prayer. Reverence is an attitude of respect and love. I guess i m trying to say that i d prefer to pray like dog the bounty hunter. Pretty much we all pray with our eyes shut and heads bowed.

Why do mormons have to fold their arms when they pray. Church members fold their arms or clasp their hands during prayer for more practical reasons. It s just so we re not distracting ourselves or people around us. Mormons are taught not to go to the lord for trivial matters because their god is a busy guy.
The first is that prayer is meant to be a pleading with god and must show respect and reverence to him. One of the most heretical teachings on the subject was taught through a speech delivered by bruce mcconkie in 1982 when he instructed mormons they should never pray directly to jesus or think they have some special relationship with him. We want to be in a reverent and humble attitude when we pray. But crossing the arms is not by any means mandatory.
It certainly contrasts against other religionists who for example hold hands around the table when they say grace. They re put up in front of the body like a defensive shield.
