These glands are working to produce and release tears slowly throughout the day to coat the surface of our eyes at all times not just when we cry. Dryness dirt and infection can each cause your eyes to water. As winter approaches and we increase heat at home work and in the car the air loses humidity which causes the eye to become very dry.

As you yawn you re squeezing the lacrimal ducts in the eyes and that makes the tears back up into the eyes hence the increased fluid in your eyes.
