That is the funniest question i ve ever heard but it s a good question.
Why do we like to smell our own farts. That means that if we fart all the time which we all do around half a liter a day we re very used to. In the video they suggest that we may prefer the smell of our own farts because it s both familiar and contains a genetic signature that is unique to each of us. I know what my farts smell like don t like them though but can avise others as to my guilt or lack thereof and end up blaming the dog.
The most likely reason we like the smell of our farts is simply because we habituate easily. And because the bacterial population that s responsible for producing our various smells is entirely unique from every other fart producing bacterial population our farts truly have a one of a kind brand that our noses can differentiate. That s why the dreaded silent but violent farts smell the. Seriously what our farts smell of should tell us a what we last consumed and b if there s good reason to visit the doctor.
Another reason your own farts don t bother you is anticipation you know it s coming so your brain can prepare itself for the smell. But our own smell is actually a sign of health. My farts are rotten and i like to smell the aroma. We dont mind our own smell i guess.

Farts are no exception. Compare farts to kids we love our own but don t like other peoples. As humans we re more likely to prefer something that s familiar to us whether it s a song an old blanket or a smell than something that isn t. If nothing else acclimatization makes your own gas less abominable to you since you smell your own farts every single day.
