Why Does My Cat Sleep In The Bathroom
Camila Farah
According to catster cats can sleep up to 16 hours a day and older cats often sleep up to 20 hours a day.
The coolness of the sink might feel good in warmer months. They like hanging out in the bathroom in general because they observe that our grooming rituals take place there and they re interested in how we do the same activities they do but differently. It seems only natural that a cat would enjoy the feeling of a sink to lounge and sleep in. It s important that you don t bathe her too much though as frequent bathing can result in skin problems.
Your cat has a built in warming device her fur which is great for when it s cold outside but it leaves your kitty in a prickly situation when the temperature starts heating up. Bathtubs also provide a cool surface to sleep on which might be the reason why your kitty is sleeping in there. You go to the bathroom and your cat rushes in next to you. Another theory is that cats are attracted to the cool smooth surface of sinks.
We love this theory. Cats love the bathtub because they like hanging out in the bathroom in general. They keep going in there to satisfy their curiosity they are attracted to the sounds of running water from the bathroom they ve found a comfortable place to sleep in there. Whenever we brush our teeth start the shower even flush the toilet he comes running to watch the water and try to drink some or play in it.

My little cat does that too. You might have noticed that during different times of the year your cat finds different sleeping spots. During cold months the cat s body heat might warm up the sink and make it extra cozy in there. After basking on the windowsill in the sun with all that fur it can be nice to cool down for a bit.
This inclination for sleeping comes from a cat s evolution because wild cats would hunt and then sleep to conserve energy between their meals. Yes as others have mentioned some cats actually do like water.
