Twenty five times the phrase the lamb or the lamb of god appears in the book of revelation.
One of the titles of jesus christ that has a very profound level of symbolism is the lamb of god i will attempt a basic explanation of what this title means and why a lamb was chosen to represent the savior. Similarly the death of jesus saves us from eternal death and slavery to sin. Jesus titles are often symbolic and help us both gain a greater appreciation of and learn who he really is. This connection was foreseen by the prophet isaiah who spoke of the messiah as a sacrificial lamb is.
He became the once for all offering for our sins hebrews 10 1 18. When we talk about lambs in the bible however we usually see them serving as a sacrifice to take away sin guilt. Why is jesus called the lamb of god. A lamb is an adorable precious innocent animal.

Interestingly jesus crucifixion occurred during passover. To understand why the title lamb of god is used for christ we must first appreciate the celebration of passover.
