Believe it or not it s better to use something other than dishwashing soap. You won t need to worry about the brand or type of dish soap when shopping as most any dish detergent will work just fine. The laundry is piling up and you re out of laundry soap but reaching for the dish soap as a substitute for laundry detergent might not be the safest bet. Before you can wash your clothes using dish soap you ll need to buy the dish soap itself.
The best advice would be to stick to using the proper soap formulated for the appliance. Dawn dish soap will not only do an excellent job at removing tough dirt grease and even blood stains but will leave your clothes soft and somehow with fewer wrinkles and damages. Dish soap may be used as a handy alternative to laundry detergent but take care not to use too much. Just by squirting a few pumps of hand soap into your clothes and running them under the water you might you re cleaning them but you might just be wasting that soap.
It is actually quite easy to use dish soap to wash your clothes. Dish soap produces more foam than laundry detergent. Although more than a few drops of dish soap will cause foam to flood out of your dishwasher the same cannot be said of a clothes washer. The ingredients in hand soap are closer to dish soap shampoo and maybe all purpose cleaner. It s not great in a washing machine though i have done it in a ski condo a few times. I used 1 teaspoon in small loads 2 teaspoons in medium loads and 3 teaspoons which equals 1 tablespoon in large loads. Add 1 3 teaspoons of dish soap.
It s fine to hand wash them in a pinch with dishwashing soap. Both dish washing soap and laundry detergent are formulated to not create needless volumes of soap bubbles. If you wish add 1 cup of vinegar which is a frugal fabric softener and also removes the smell from mildewed clothing but does not leave a vinegar smell. As an extra precaution add 1 4 cup of white distilled vinegar to the rinse cycle to remove any excess soap that could be irritating to the skin.
