Why Can T You See Stars From The Moon

It may not look it but that is only due to how the picture was taken.
These exposures were too short to detect stars in the sky. Fast exposure times means they can get good pictures of the bright earth or lunar surface but it also means no stars in the picture. You can see plenty of stars on the moon even when the sun is in the sky. That was confirmed by astronauts visiting the moon. If it wasn t it would be white and make for a shit picture. The scenery on the moon was the most important thing to capture in the apollo photographs so the camera was adjusted to make the most out of that scenery.
You can see stars because the moon has no atmosphere and so the sky is. Yes you can see stars in space. Even in space stars are relatively dim and simply don t. Therefore they are incredibly dim in contrast to other natural or man made objects present in the foreground of the captured photographs.
