Known as borborygmi the noise that seemingly emanates from your stomach is actually gas moving back and forth in the intestines. A so called growling stomach is more likely a sign that your intestines are full of hot air. It just means your digestive die jes tiv system is trying to do its job moving food through. A gurgling rumbling stomach doesn t always mean that you re hungry.
Borborygmi can also be associated with hunger which is thought to cause secretion of hormones that trigger contractions within the gastrointestinal gi tract. Muscle contractions will come and go about every hour generally lasting 10 to 20 minutes until you eat again. The sound from the gas and air is produced in the stomach all the time but it is much louder when there is no food in your body. However while eating does sometimes put an end to the growling the real culprit behind the noise is your intestines.
With no food to muffle the sound. Second the vibrations of an empty stomach make you hungry. These pockets of gas and air are the reason that your stomach growls. Sometimes the noises are less noticeable because the presence of food in your body can help somewhat to muffle their sound as well as lessen their intensity.
