Why Did Jesus Have To Die For Our Sins
Camila Farah
Jesus is god in flesh john 1 1 14.
All people have sinned against god. Couldn t god have just forgiven us. I have been a catholic all my life but i have never really understood why jesus had to die for our sins. Your question is one that has occupied theologians over the entire history of christianity.
Simply put without jesus death on the cross for our sins no one would have eternal life. I side with your position. No other sacrifice is sufficient in the old testament god commanded that sin be atoned for by sacrificing the life of the innocent because the wages of sin will always be death hence the sacrifice of animals and doves in the old testament times. Praise god he kept his promise to send and sacrifice the perfect lamb to bear the sins of those who trust in him.
To bear our own sins would be to suffer god s judgment in the flames of hell. He died under the condemnation of our sins. For it is written cursed is every one who hangeth on a tree galatians 3 13. Jesus died for us because our sins had us separated from god isaiah 59 2 but christ bridged that gap by the old rugged cross john 3 16 and thankfully we know that the son of man came not to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many mark 10 45.
